Soap Opera / 2017
Soap Opera is an ambitious exhibition of new work by Susie Losch. Losch’s focus is the bathroom, a space with which we are all familiar.

The works on show reference this space and its rituals in varying degrees, directly or laterally. Susie’s humour is never far from the surface. Her skill in solving technical issues, the foresight in organising the materials, the thinking that produces such inspired outcomes is testament to her diligent and consistent art practice.
Soap Opera makes you stop and reflect on the combinations of materials, textures, colours, patinas and how these disparate elements have found new meaning in their current form. The works invite viewers to think back to their own childhood and remember objects from their mums’ or grandparents’ homes. Many younger viewers are captivated, even mystified by everyday artefacts from another age as they speak of a world long gone.
